2008 WAFT Events & Dates
You must register in advance to participate in the WAFT. Please log in here.
The registration deadline is Monday, June 2, at 9 a.m. PDT. Please register as early as possible to ensure that your browser is compatible with the WAFT site and that your contact information is correct.

Detailed Procedures
Please print these instructions before you register and keep a copy for reference.
- Register for the WAFT
Before Monday, June 2, at 9 a.m. PDT, you should register online for the WAFT.
- Hit the "Log in" link, above.
- For both the "Login" name and "Password," enter the six-digit WAFT ID number that you received in our email and letter about the writing assessment.
- Change your password when prompted.
- Write down your new password and keep it in a safe place.
The WAFT ID number that you enter for registration will remain as your Login name.
- When prompted, enter an email address that we can use to contact you through mid-July.
- Answer the question about your English language background.
- Hit "Save
Changes."
- Download the reading
On Monday, June 2, at noon PDT, the reading will be posted.
- Log in to the WAFT site to download and print the reading. You will have several days to consider this reading before you access a writing assignment about it. We encourage you to use whatever active reading techniques you normally employ to enhance your understanding (e.g., underline, jot notes in margins, highlight important phrases, etc.).
- Do not do any additional research and do not discuss the reading with anyone.
- Download the writing assignment and begin writing
On Thursday, June 5, at 9 a.m. PDT, the writing assignment will be posted.
Log in to the WAFT site to download the writing assignment. Print the assignment and begin writing. We suggest that you take about 3-4 hours to compose the essay, using the flexible four-day time period in which to write.
NOTE: You should NOT discuss the reading or the assignment or your writing with anyone. When submitting the essay, you will be asked to verify that you received no help and that you did not consult outside sources of information.
- Submit your essay online
By Monday, June 9, at 9 a.m. PDT, the essay is due.
Log in to the WAFT site to submit your writing. Copy and paste a "Text Only" (plain text) version of your essay into the WAFT online form. Keep a backup copy of your essay.
NOTE: Be sure that you know how to copy and paste plain text before you submit your WAFT essay.
- Get the results
Results will be posted to the WAFT site in mid-July. You will be notified when they are available.
Log in to the WAFT site and click on "Results."
